The Benefits of Veneers

Versatile dental treatment

One of the best things about veneers is that they can treat lots of problems with your smile. From severe tooth stains to chips, uneven teeth, slightly-crooked teeth, and misshapen teeth, a single set of veneers can cover up almost any smile imperfection.

Minimal care requirements

Veneers are extremely durable and long-lasting, and they are also impervious to stains. And to care for them, all you have to do is brush your teeth twice a day, floss once a day, and see our Roswell dentist for a checkup every six months.

Restore your confidence

Veneers can transform your smile and dramatically improve your confidence, too. With your new teeth, you can feel proud of your smile once again. You won’t have to hide your teeth when you smile, speak, laugh, or eat around others, and you can feel great about how you look.

The Veneers Placement Process

Tooth prep and veneer fitting

If you’re approved, Dr. O’Shea will schedule you for a follow up. At this appointment, he will clean and numb your mouth, then gently remove some  enamel from each natural tooth that’s getting a veneer. Then, he will take dental impressions and images of your mouth. Finally, he will apply a set of temporary veneers to your teeth and send you home.

Crafting your veneers

Next, Dr. O’Shea will work with a dental lab to build your permanent set of dental veneers, based on the impressions and images taken of your mouth. It usually takes 2-3 weeks for your permanent veneers to be built and sent back to our office.

Final veneer placement

Once your veneers arrive at the office of Dr. TJ O’Shea, you’ll come in for one last appointment. He will remove your temporaries, clean your teeth, check the fit of your veneers, and make any necessary last-minute adjustments. Then, he will use dental cement to attach your veneers to your teeth. After one final polish, you’ll be sent home to enjoy your new, perfect smile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I Need to Brush My Veneers?

Yes, it is important to continue brushing your veneers just like you would with your natural teeth. Brushing your veneers helps remove plaque and bacteria that can accumulate on the surface. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and a non-abrasive toothpaste to gently clean your veneers. Be sure to brush all surfaces of your teeth, including the area where the veneers meet your natural teeth. Also, don't forget to floss daily to remove any food particles or plaque from between your teeth and veneers.

How Do I Schedule a Veneers Consultation?

Scheduling a veneers consultation in Roswell is easy! Simply contact TJ O'Shea DMD at (770) 772-9999 and our friendly staff will be happy to assist you. During the consultation, Dr. TJ O'Shea will evaluate your oral health, discuss your desired outcome, and determine if veneers are the right choice for you. We understand that each patient is unique, and we will tailor a treatment plan that suits your individual needs and goals.

Are Veneers The Same As a Crown?

Veneers and crowns are both dental restorations that can improve the appearance of your teeth, but they serve different purposes and involve different procedures.

Veneers are thin shells made of porcelain or composite resin that are bonded to the front surface of your teeth. They are primarily used to enhance the aesthetics of your smile by correcting issues such as discoloration, chips, gaps, and minor misalignments. Veneers are a more conservative option compared to crowns, as they require minimal tooth preparation.

On the other hand, dental crowns are caps that cover the entire tooth. They are typically used when a tooth is severely damaged, decayed, or has undergone root canal treatment. Crowns provide strength, protection, and support to a weakened tooth, restoring its function and appearance.

If you're considering veneers or crowns, it's best to consult with your dentist. They will evaluate your oral health, discuss your goals, and recommend the most suitable treatment option for you.

How Do I Maintain My Veneers?

Taking care of your veneers is simple with good oral hygiene habits. Make sure to brush and floss your veneers at least twice a day using a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste.

Avoid foods and drinks that can stain your teeth, like coffee and red wine, and if you do consume them, rinse your mouth with water afterward. Also, refrain from using your veneers as tools to open packages or chew on hard objects.

If you engage in contact sports or grind your teeth, wearing a mouthguard can safeguard your veneers. Lastly, regular dental check-ups are crucial for your oral health and the longevity of your veneers.

Do Veneers Need to Be Replaced?

Veneers are a popular cosmetic dental treatment that can transform your smile and give you the confidence you've always wanted. But like any dental restoration, veneers may need to be replaced at some point. The lifespan of veneers can vary depending on various factors such as oral hygiene, habits, and the quality of the veneers themselves.

On average, veneers can last anywhere from 10 to 15 years. However, with proper care and maintenance, they can last even longer. It's important to note that veneers are not indestructible and can be damaged over time. If you notice any chips, cracks, or discoloration on your veneers, it's best to consult with your dentist to determine if replacement is necessary.

How Long Do Veneers Last?

This depends on how well you care for your teeth. In general, however, you can expect your porcelain veneers to last between 10-20 years. To maximize their lifespan, we recommend eating a tooth-healthy diet, maintaining good oral hygiene, and seeing the team at the office of Dr. TJ O’Shea for a dental checkup every six months.
